Privacy Policy

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE_DATE]

Launch draft: This page is an implementation-ready baseline and must be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before publication.

Hussein (“Froodie,” “we,” “us”) provides a kitchen inventory, recipe, meal-planning, and cooking application. This policy explains the information used by the current product and the choices available to you.

Information we handle

InformationPurpose
Account informationName, email address, authentication provider, and account identifier are used to create and secure your account.
Kitchen informationPantry items, quantities, estimated expiry dates, shopping lists, meal plans, saved or generated recipes, and cooking history provide the app’s core features.
PreferencesDietary choices, disliked ingredients, cuisines, household size, allergies, and related quiz answers personalize recipe results.
Fridge and grocery photosPhotos you choose are sent to our backend and an AI provider to detect ingredients. Froodie does not save the uploaded image to its application database or storage after processing.
Voice inputYour device speech-recognition service converts speech to text. Froodie sends the resulting text, not a stored audio recording, for ingredient parsing.
Purchase informationProduct, entitlement, receipt, and subscription state are used to unlock and restore Premium access. Froodie does not receive your full payment-card details.
Device and usage dataApp version, device or operating-system details, user identifier, and explicit feature events help operate and improve the app when mobile analytics is configured.
Notification tokensA device push token is stored when you enable eligible reminders and removed when you disable them or delete your account.

How we use information

  • Provide scanning, pantry memory, expiry guidance, recipes, cook mode, meal plans, and shopping lists.
  • Personalize recipe suggestions and filter based on the preferences you provide.
  • Authenticate accounts, process entitlements, restore purchases, and prevent service abuse.
  • Deliver notifications you choose to enable and diagnose service failures.
  • Measure explicit product events and improve Froodie when PostHog is configured.

Service providers

Froodie uses providers only for the functions described below. Their own policies and retention practices also apply.

  • Supabase for authentication, the PostgreSQL database, and generated recipe-image storage.
  • Google Gemini for ingredient extraction and recipe-related AI processing.
  • OpenAI for generated recipe imagery.
  • Apple and Google for social sign-in and app-store purchase processing, where applicable.
  • RevenueCat for purchase receipts, entitlements, subscription status, and restoration.
  • Expo for application delivery infrastructure and push notifications.
  • PostHog for explicit mobile product events and basic app/device context when configured.
  • Device speech-recognition services for voice-to-text input.

Website cookies and analytics

This static website does not currently install analytics, advertising scripts, or nonessential cookies. If that changes, this policy and any required consent controls must be updated before those tools are enabled.

AI, allergies, and health-related preferences

Recipe and ingredient results are AI-assisted and can be incomplete or wrong. Allergy selections are used to filter and warn, but they are not a guarantee. Always verify ingredients, labels, expiry, storage, and cooking safety yourself.

Retention and deletion

Account-linked kitchen data is generally kept while your account is active. Uploaded scan photos are processed transiently by Froodie and are not saved to the application database or storage. Generated recipe images may remain in cloud storage while their recipes remain in your account. Providers may retain limited records under their own terms or legal obligations.

You can delete your account in the app by opening You → Delete account. The confirmed request deletes the authentication account and app records that cascade from it. See account-deletion instructions and data-request options. Account deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription.

Your choices and rights

  • Review or correct pantry and preference information in the app.
  • Disable notifications in the app or device settings.
  • Delete your account in the app.
  • Request access, correction, deletion, or another applicable privacy right by contacting froodie.support@gmail.com.

Security, transfers, and children

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Providers may process data in countries other than your own. Froodie is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the product or law changes and will revise the effective date. Privacy contact: froodie.support@gmail.com. General support: froodie.support@gmail.com. Mailing address: [BUSINESS_ADDRESS].
